Getting your new transmission delivered and returning your old core is a straightforward process, provided it is prepped correctly for the freight network. We utilize a combination of hot shot trucking and standard LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight to move our 6L80 transmissions nationwide safely and efficiently.
Hot Shot & LTL Freight Delivery
Hot shot carriers often provide dedicated, faster transit times across the country, but coordinating the drop-off and pick-up requires proper preparation on your end:
-
Commercial vs. Residential: Delivery to a commercial auto shop with a forklift or loading dock is always the fastest and most cost-effective route.
-
Liftgate Service: If you are receiving the transmission at a residential address or a shop without a forklift, a truck equipped with a liftgate must be scheduled in advance to safely lower the pallet to the ground.
-
Driver Coordination: Freight and hot shot drivers operate on strict transit schedules. Someone must be present at the delivery location to sign for the freight and receive the pallet.
Prepping Your Core for Return Pick-Up
To ensure your core is accepted by the driver and safely transported back to our shop for your core charge refund, it must meet the following requirements:
-
Drain All Fluids: The core must be completely drained. Freight carriers will instantly reject shipments or issue severe hazard fines if they discover leaking transmission fluid on the trailer.
-
Secure to the Pallet: The core must be strapped tightly to the original pallet we shipped your new build on. Use heavy-duty ratchet straps or commercial banding.
-
Include the Converter: Your old torque converter must be secured on the pallet alongside the transmission core.
Core Inspection & Refund
Once the carrier delivers your core back to our facility, it will undergo a thorough teardown inspection. Core charges are refunded promptly as long as the main casing is intact, not cracked, and all major internal components are present.
